Munich win 5-2 in Wuppertal after first-half cup scare

( dpa )- Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich survived a first- half scare from third division frontrunners Wuppertaler SV with a 5-2 victory in the round of 16 of the German cup on Tuesday night.

Daniel van Buyten's 50th-minute header and a tap-in from Italy striker Luca Toni four minutes later clinched the affair in Gelsenkirchen , where Wuppertal played the game in front of 61,000 fans. Hamit Altintop wrapped up matters in the 88th.

The score was locked at 2-2 in the first half as Tobias Damm in the 26th and Mahir Saglik in the 29th cancelled out a double from Germany star Miroslav Klose (15th, 27th) for the courageous hosts.

Bayern were joined in the quarter-finals by crosstown rivals 1860 Munich, who overturned a 2-0 deficit in the final seven minutes for a 3-2 triumph in a second-division duel at Alemannia Aachen .

An own goal by Orestes Junior Alves in the 71st lifted second- division Hoffenheim 2-1 over top flight side Hansa Rostock .

Borussia Dortmund were playing Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga duel later Tuesday. The other four games were scheduled for Wednesday.
