Journalists Should not be Arrested for Their Activities: AGO Group (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 April /corr. Trend K.Ramazanova/ The journalists should not be arrested for their activities. "Nobody should be arrested for his/her views. It is reflected in Azerbaijan's obligations undertaken before the Council of Europe," the Chairman of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, Per Sergen, briefed the media on 4 April.

According to him, the Council of Europe is concerned about the arrest of journalists and this issue should be settled as soon as possible.

"Freedom of press is an obligatory freedom and can not be limited," he said.

In addition, Sergen stated that there is a need to re-consider the Law on Radio and Broadcasting.
