Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 April / corr Trend K.Ramazanova / Miklos Haraszti, an OSCE representative for freedom of press, calls on Azerbaijani media to stop a campaign against Agil Khalil, a journalist of the opposition newspaper Azadlyg.
'This campaign is a shameful action for the Azerbaijani newspaper," he stated to a news conference in Baku on 9 April.
On 13 March, at 8.00pm Agil Khalil, a journalist of the Azadlyg newspaper, was stabbed in the chest. The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan announced that the journalist was injured on the basis of jealousy by Sergey Strekalin, who had intimate relations with the suffered.
Harashti said that television channels demonstrated one-sided films and it contradicts the 'journalist ethics'.
"Such actions should not happen in countries where the superiority of law exist," Harashti.
