Serious Problems Exist in Development of Children’s Sport in Azerbaijan – Deputy Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 April / Trend corr. I.Alizade / There are serious problems in development of children sport in Azerbaijan.
"There are problems with the development of children sport in the country. The main problems are connected with finances, provision of sport complexes, as well as low material and technical basis in the schools," Ismayil Ismayilov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport, stated during the discussions of the Bill on Children sport in the Parliament.
There are 207 sport schools in Azerbaijan. Some 157 schools are under the control of Education Ministry, 27 - Youth and Sport Ministry and 23 - trade and union organizations. About 150,000 children are trained in these schools.
Deputy Minister noted that children sports can possibly be developed in the country only after these problems are resolved.
Ismayilov noted about the necessity to introduce a Bill on children sport. The new Bill will positively affect disputable issues in this sphere.
Elmar Gasimov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Education Minister, said that the children in 157 children sport schools, which are under the control of Ministry, get the training of 27 different types of sport - out which 20 of them associated with the Olympic games. Some 4,477 coaches working in the children sport schools.
