Metrological Station to be Established in One of Highest Mountain Tops of Caucasus in Azerbaijan: Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 April /corr. Trend J.Babayeva / A decision was made to construct a metrological station on one of the highest mountain tops of Caucasus, Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Huseyn Bagirov, briefed the media in Baku on 18 April.

According to him, the metrological station will be constructed in Tufan Mountain or Shakhdag Mountain at a height of 3200m. "Every week we will receive information from the station regarding an increase or decrease in the level of temperature. This process is a very important issue in the globally. These territories are 'climatic cuisine', climatic impacts appear there, and this station will give an opportunity to receive the necessary information," the Minister said. 

According to him, over the recent period, the accuracy of metrological forecasts has increased in Azerbaijan. "This increase resulted from expanding international relations, close ties with large meteorological centers, regular acquisitions of maps from metrological satellites of Europe, Turkey and America and the re-establishment of relevant observation stations," Bagirov said.
