Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 April / Trend corr N. Ahmadova/ The First Wednesday of every month all municipalities in Azerbaijan will host meetings with the public, Nofel Bagirov, the specialist of the Association of Community Municipalities, said on 21 April.
On these days the municipalities will receive the public from 9.00am to 6.00pm to hear their problems, initiatives and suggestions. There are 2,757 municipalities in Azerbaijan.
According to Mehdi Salimzade, the head of the Centre for Municipality Affairs attached to the Justice Ministry, in 2007 the number of complaints regarding municipality operations has increased from 2006. The complaints mainly entail violation of rights for property and land.
In 2006, 17 criminal cases were filed against municipalities in Azerbaijan.
