Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 May / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / Ramiz Mehtiyev, Head of the Executive Presidential Administration, stated that the fact that the United States has allocated $3mln to Azerbaijan regarding the upcoming presidential elections is interference into the internal affairs of the country. "I, as a citizen of Azerbaijan believe that this step is interference of the internal affairs of the country," Mehtiyev said.
Recently, the United State has allocated $3mln for Azerbaijan to implement the democratic presidential elections scheduled for 15 October.
"The funds were allocated to improve the state of freedom of speech and election situation in the country rather than to different political parties or organizations," Anne E. Derse, US Ambassador in Azerbaijan, stated.
Mehtiyev stated that no country could allocate funds for the election process in the United States. "Will the United States permit Azerbaijan or any other country to finance any candidate during the elections in the country? Neither America nor Britain will permit any other country to take such step and interfere to the internal affairs of their countries. Why such situation could be observed in Azerbaijan? I consider it wrong," Mehtiyev said.
