Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 May / Trend corr E. Huseynli, K. Zarbaliyeva/ The Baku Appeal Court has partially granted the appeal made by Avaz Zeynalli, chief editor of the Khural newspaper.

"The fine imposed on the chief editor as a result of a lawsuit initiated by the head of the Yevlakh Administration has been reduced," Avaz Zeynalli said to Trend on 7 May.

The head of the Yevlakh Administration Elmar Valiyev applied to the Narimanov District Court in Baku on the grounds that he was offended by the articles 'Elmar Valiyev Deceives President' and 'Yevlak LLC Named after Elmar Valiyev' which were published in the Khural newspaper.

The court imposed a fine in the sum of AZN 6,000 on the chief editor and AZN 4,000 on the writer, Vugar Alakbarov. However, the Baku Appeal Court made the decision to reduce the chief editor's fine to AZN 2,000 and the author's to AZN 1,000.

Zeynalli is not satisfied with the court's verdict and intends to appeal to the Supreme Court.
