Education Minister of Azerbaijan States Interference in Final Examinations by Outside Forces

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May / corr. Trend J. Babayeva/ Some people want to hinder the holding of the final examinations in Azerbaijan in a centralized manner and they are cheating parents of the pupils, Misir Mardanov, the education minister of Azerbaijan said to media on 20 May in Baku.

According to Minister, the parents have informed the ministry that the test questions were sold after test examinations.

"The parents who bought these questionnaires were later disappointed. I want to ask parents not to believe these people," the Minister said.

According to Mardanov, the Ministry tries not to allow the interference of outside forces into the final exams.

"The pupils with average knowledge can have positive results in the final examination and get a certificate," the Minister said.

The parents should understand that their children should study in order to receive education, but not just a document, he said.

"Unfortunately, there a lot of people in our society who think differently. Many want to obtain a certificate for their children by various means," the Minister stated.

In 2008, final exams will be held in a centralized manner in Baku, Sungayit, Shirvan, Mingachevir cities, and Ujar, Imishli and Ismayilli regions. Three test exams have been held up to now. The last exam will be held on 6 June.
