Azerbaijani Football Club Refuses to Transfer Macedonian Footballer

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 June / corr. Trend R.Ergun / Baku, the Azerbaijani football club, is close to sign a 2-year contract with Elvin Aliyev, a footballer of the national team, Zeynal Mammadov, a general manager of Baku club, told Trend on 18 June.

Aliyev played for the Olimpic club during the last season of the Azerbaijani Football Premier League. Media said that Mahir Shukurov, another member of the national team, who leaved Khazar-Lankaran a while ago, also will be transferred to Baku. Mammadov told Trend that they were not interested in Shukurov and did not hold transfer talks with this footballer.

The general manager said that Artim Shakiri, a Macedonian footballer, who signed an official contract with Garabagh on 18 June, was offered Baku earlier. "However, we refused this footballer. You see, our club is holding transfer talks with Georgi Khristov, another Macedonian footballer, who played in the English Football Premier League and the decision about him will be taken on 19 June," an official representative of the club said.

Baku is holding the first period of training for the next season in Guba. From 15 to 30 July the team will be at the training session in Slovenia.
