Possibly Commission to be Established to Prepare Bill on Education in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 June /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Possible a commission will be established under the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to prepare a new law draft on education. "If the suggestions on establishment of commission under the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to prepare a new law draft on education satisfy the educational employees and become urgent, they can be considered," Ali Hasanov, the Head of Public-Political Department of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, told Trend .
The MP from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) considers that a commission should be established under the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to prepare a new law draft on education. "If the law draft on education is not sent to the Parliament by Ilham Aliyev, its adoption will be impossible because the people who devise the draft law on education follow their own interests," MP Siyavush Novruzov, Deputy Executive Secretary, said.
The current Bill on Education was adopted in 1992. The new Bill has been worked out since 1995. However, disagreements among Ministry of Education, State Students Admission Commission, various universities, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Taxes and other official bodies hindered it from being passed. In the late December 2007, the new Bill on Education went through first reading in the parliament. The passing of the Bill was included to the agenda of the spring session of the parliament. Though the session has ended, the Bill was not introduced for the second reading.
