Trend E.Babayev / During the fifth congress of the Azerbaijani journalists, an appeal was prepared to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, with a request to pardon three journalists. "We ask Ilham Aliyev help release arrested journalists. This step will positively affect Azerbaijan's image," the Chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, said.
The three detained journalists held in Azerbaijan are Ganimat Zahid, chief editor of Azadlig newspaper, Mirza Sakit, a journalist of Azadlig newspaper, and Eynulla Fatullayev, chief editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realni Azerbaijan newspapers.
In his report, Amashov touched upon works done over the past five years. He said that during this period, attention was paid to organizational works. According to Amashov, due to it, several works were not implemented. Moreover, Amashov touched upon problems of journalists. He said that it is the high time to resolve social and other problems of journalists.
