Spain and Italy level at 0-0 at halftime in Euro 2008 quarterfinals
Italy and Spain were 0-0 at halftime Sunday in the quarterfinals of the European Championship, AP reported.
Italy midfielder Simone Perrotta had a header on target in the 19th minute that goalkeeper Iker Casillas caught on the first bounce.
Six minutes later, Spain striker David Villa's 25-meter free kick was saved down low by goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon at Ernst Happel Stadium. While teammate David Silva struck a left-footed shot from 25 meters that just went wide of the post in the 38th.
The winner will play Russia in the semifinals at the same venue on Thursday.
