Charter of Diaspora Organizations of Azerbaijan Devised

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 July / Trend , corr. E. Babayev/ The State Commission for Work with Azerbaijanis Abroad is working out the Charter of the world Azerbaijanis. "The Charter aims at uniting all Diaspora organizations of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis living abroad and it will be established as an organization," Valeh Hajiyev, deputy chairman of the State Commission for Work with Azerbaijanis Abroad said to Trend on 4 July.

The State Commission for Work with Azerbaijanis Abroad was founded at the decree 730 of the Azerbaijani President Heyder Aliyev on 5 July 2002. The Committee is the central executive body which carries out the government policy in work with the Azerbaijanis living abroad, expands and develops relations with them and coordinates the activities of the governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations with this regard.

According to Hajiyev, there is Congress of Azerbaijanis in Europe and Congress of Azerbaijanis in Russia and similar organizations in other countries. Our chief aim is to unite all Congresses in different continents under the Charter of World Azerbaijanis and to enable all Diaspora organizations in different parts of the world to take joint actions," Hajiyev said.

According to Hajiyev, the establishment of the Charter also aims at gaining new friends and to create lobby. Azerbaijan should gain new friends abroad in order to create strong lobby, he said.

"We have already organized our Diaspora organizations. Today the Azerbaijani Diaspora is strengthening. Organizations and forums of the Azerbaijanis studying abroad are being established. The Charter will act in line with the conception of the Azerbaijani Diaspora," he added.
