World Azerbaijanis Congress to Open New Representative Office

Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 July /Тrend News corr. J.Babayeva/ A representative office of the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) will open in Georgia in near future.

The office is intended to coordinate the operation of diaspora organizations of Azerbaijanis residing in the country, Head of WAC Coordination and Information Centre Alireza Amanbayli said to Trend on 25 July.

According to Amanbayli, administration of the WAC will hold a range of meetings with state bodies and parliamentarians of Georgia on 26-28 July to discuss the issue. "A meeting of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations will take place in Georgia to discuss social problems of Azerbaijanis residing in the country," said Amanbayli.

Amanbayli said WAC intends to render technical assistance to diaspora organizations of Azerbaijanis in Georgia. "One of the main directions of WAC activities is to inform international organizations of the problems of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia," he said. 

WAC was founded in the United States in 1997 to protect the rights of Azerbaijanis worldwide and to struggle for the independence of South Azerbaijan (currently an Iranian province).
