Georgian Language Courses to be Opened for Azerbaijanis in Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 September / Trend , corr. S.Ismaylbeyli / Georgian language courses will be opened for the Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia.

"Georgian courses are envisaged to be opened at 50 Azerbaijani schools in order to ensure integration of the Georgian Azerbaijanis to the Georgian society," Press Service of the State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis Residing in Foreign Countries said. 

According to unofficial information, 500,000 Azerbaijanis reside in Georgia.

The coordinator of the Georgian courses is Azerbaijan Culture Center which functions in Georgia.

Form the next year, Georgian language courses will be opened at all Azerbaijani schools in Georgia and Marneuli Branch of Tbilisi State University. 

Some 124 Azerbaijani schools function in the territories densely populated by the Azerbaijanis in Georgia.  

The first Azeri-Georgian language dictionary is being prepared with the financial support of the State Committee.  

The dictionary will be comprised of 20,000 words and 2 volumes. The language courses and textbooks are also provided at the expense of the State Committee.
