World Championship on Beach Football Might be Held in Azerbaijan: AFFA Official

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 September / Trend corr. R.Ergun / The World Championship on beach football will be more likely held in Azerbaijan, the official website of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFAF) reported, Elshad Nasirov, the vice president of the federation said.

"We will submit our offer to FIFA to organize the World Championship on beach football in Azerbaijan in 2011. We have great plans concerning the beach football," Nasirov said.

The last European Championship on beach football was held in Baku. The Azerbaijani National team occupied the third place.

It is planned to build new stadiums in Azerbaijan soon, the AFFA Vice-President said.

"We intend to construct and put into exploitation new stadiums in Buzovna, Novkhani, Shuvalan settlements. We will increase number of stadiums in order to raise interest to this kind of sport in Azerbaijan," Nasirov said.

A stadium on beach football in Azerbaijan, which contains 1,000 people, is located in Mardakan settlement.
