Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 October / Trend corr. S.Kazimli / Residents of Nardaran settlements did not hold a demonstration in front of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, which was scheduled earlier.
Rasim Alizade, a resident of Nardaran village, submitted the petition to a representative of the US Embassy. Therefore, picketers agreed not to hold demonstration in front of the Embassy.
The petition demands to hold investigation into the land property purchased by former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Stanley Escudero in Nardaran village.
The petition demands to cancel an unfair verdict, granting the land to Escudero and to punish the US diplomat's supporters.
Some residents of Nardaran settlement accuse Escudero, the former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, of seizing their lands. The former Ambassador claims for 30 h of area, which belongs to residents of Nardaran, they said. There is a decision by the court, which confirms the lands belong to Jabrayil Salmanov, whose daughter Nigar is Escudero's daughter-in-law. However, residents of the settlement claim that the lands have never belonged to Salmanov. At present the case is being investigated at the Supreme Court Plenum.
