Azerbaijani Gymnast Gains Medal in Croatia

Azerbaijan gymnast Zeynab Javadli got silver at the international tournament taken place in Croatia.

A 17-year old Baku sportswoman took the second place performing the exercises with a skipping-rope, a hoop, a club and a ribbon and got 63.635 points. The winner became the Russian gymnast Vera Sesina, the Croat gymnast Anna Maria Zjelimorski got bronze.

"If the final rounds of separate tours were envisaged by the program of competitions, I would get medal twice at the least," Zeynab regretted in Pleso, Zagreb airport. But it does not mean that I am not satisfied with my only reward, it is not so! The Zagreb tournament became the last for me in 2008 because I am finishing it in high mood".

Javadli has recently got bronze during the world club championship in Tokyo and took the fifth place in the final championship Grand Prix in Bratislava.

Next weekend the Azerbaijan gymnasts will take part in A1 tour, the final tour of the Italian club championship. On 6 December Aliya Garayeva will be for Ardor club in small town Folinyo but Anna Qurbanova for Komense-1872.

Meanwhile, the 15th Azerbaijani championship on artistic gymnastics with participation of 67 gymnasts representing sports associations of Baku, Sumgayit, and Balaken is over.

Shakir Shikhaliyev became the Azerbaijan champion among the masters of sports for the second year regularly. He got 46.3 points for performing the exercises at pommel horse, skid, jump, horizontal bar and free style combination. Elvin Agadadayev remained behind him at six points and Faiq Shikhaliyev, brother of the champion at ten points.

Among the masters of sports the best sportsman was again Ruslan Balakiskiyev got 48.2 points, Evgeni Samarkin got silver (41.9 points), Ugur Khalilbeylu got bronze (41.3 points).

Anar Aligasanov got 42.6 points was winner among the gymnasts of the first category, Altay Akhadov with 42.5 points the second, and Ilgar Akhmedli with 42.4 points the third.
