CE Secretary General Awarded Gold of İSESCO

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 December / corr. Trend N.Abdullayeva/ The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization (İSESCO) rewarded Terry Davis, CE Secretary General, gold for the great contribution into the development of intercultural and intercivilized dialogue.

On 2 December Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, İSESCO Director General, presented CE Secretary General the medal in the framework of conference on Intercultural dialogue is the basis of stable development and peace in Europe and its neighbouring regions, which began in Baku on 2 December.

On behalf of İSESCO I state that such conference is an excellent opportunity to discuss the intercultural questions. It might be a bridge uniting cultures of West and East. The conference demonstrates that all people are equal in spite of gender and religious belifs, Altwaijri told at the conference. "We call on the nations of the world to unite. We can get larger development only in this way," he said.

The two-day conference involves ministers from 16 countries, deputy ministers from 18 countries, different-level delegates from 19 countries, well as heads of 10 international organizations as CE, ALECSO, ISESCO, etc. for the first time, ministers of the Islamic countries are invited to participate in the conference of CE ministers of culture.

The conference will be held in three directions: "The discussion of a white book", "The cultural programs of policy and initiatives: new conceptions", "Heritage and intercultural dialogue from national to universal". The Baku declaration is expected to be adopted on the second day of the conference. The priority directions for CE ministers of culture and Islamic countries will be described in the document. The document envisages propaganda, rapprochement and cultural exchange.
