Baku gymnastics championship participants can attend London Olympic Games (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 6/ Trend , R. Ergun/ Sportswomen who participate in Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Baku can perform in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

"Gymnasts who were born in 1995-1997 can perform in the upcoming Olympic Games. They will turn 16-17 by that time," head of the Central Youth and Sports Department Rafiq Abbasov said at an opening ceremony of Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Baku.

The upcoming Olympic Games will take place in London.

Abbasov said the Baku championship will help gymnasts to prepare for Azerbaijani championship.

"Gymnasts who can achieve success in Baku championship will gain very good experience and better prepare for world championship," Abbasov said.

A total of 47 gymnasts are taking part in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship. Eight sportsmen account for Ganja city.

Azerbaijani gymnasts successfully competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Aliya Qarayeva gained a license to the Olympic Games final stage.
