"Azerbaijanis" textbook presented in Estonia

The book entitled "Azerbaijanis" which comprises information about the Azerbaijani nation, statehood history, culture, nature and national cuisine was presented in Estonia.

The "Azerbaijanis" book was published in the Estonian language in line with education program of the Estonian Education Ministry, the State Committee on Diaspora told Trend on April 23.

The Integration Foundation published the book upon the order and financial support of the Minsitry of Education. Authors of the book which was published as part of the ministry's project on "Familiarization with national minorities in Estonia" are head of the Azerbaijani "Haftasonu" schools in Estonia Sarvinaz Karimova and teacher of the school Sanam Aliyeva. Ita Serman translated the book into the Estonian language. The "Azerbaijanis" book is the third book about national minorities in Estonia after the book on the Lithuanians and Russians, Chairman of the Aydan Estonian-Azerbaijani Cultural Centre Niyazi Hajiyev said.

The book which aims to familiarize Estonians with Azerbaijan and its nation includes information about national holidays and mourning days, as well.

The book largely informs its readers about the Karabakh conflict, 20 January Tragedy, Khojali Genocide and March 31 - the Day of Azerbaijanis Genocide.

The book was published with 15,000 copies and is currently available at libraries and schools.

Participants of the presentation ceremony noted that the book will more speed up integration of Azerbaijanis in Estonia with the Estonian community.

The State Committee on Diaspora assisted in collecting materials for the book.
