A prisoner at remand prison in Azerbaijan complained to ombudsman of illegal imprisonment.
Officers of Azerbaijan Ombudsman Administration visited Remand Prison 1 at Justice Ministry Penal Service and met with Hunar Jafarov, who has gone on hunger strike, the Ombudsman Administration press service said.
Jafarov said he has gone on hunger strike for illegal imprisonment. He said customs agencies filed the criminal suit wrongly and he was incriminated article 234 of the Penal Code illegally.
Ombudsman Administration officers recommended the prisoner to stop hunger strike and added that criminal case against him was examined by a court and it is beyond ombudsman's powers.
The remand prison management was given recommendations to provide Jafarov's with doctor's control and further improve conditions in the prison.
