Azerbaijan, Baku, June 4 / Trend , A.Huseynbala /

The Ministry of Justice of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan appealed to the Press Council to clarify how many newspapers there are with the word "Nakhchivan" in title.
"The investigation on the basis of the appeal revelaed that many of the founders and editor-in-chiefs of these newspapers are not from Nakhchivan,"  Chairman of the Press Council of Azerbaijan Aflatun Amashov told Trend on June 4.

The Press Council of Azerbaijan constantly announces the names of newspapers engaged in racketeering. This list included the newspaper, in the title of which there is the word "Nakhchivan".

More than 3,300 media outlets were registered in Azerbaijan. Currently only 600 of them function. Nearly 400 newspapers and magazines are published and more than 20 television channels function. There are about 50 electronic media outlets, 20 news agencies, and the rest are the Internet resources in Azerbaijan.
Amashov said that the initial monitoring revealed that most of the inactive media outlets registered are the newspapers.

Amashov said that many of the founders of the newspapers called "Nakhchivan" are engaged in racketeering activity.

"We told that many of these newspapers are engaged in racketeering, and about ten of them stopped their activities," said the Chairman of the Council.

The newspapers suspended activities included "Ulu Nakhchivan", "Nakhchivan bu gun", "Boyuk Nakhchivan", "Nakhchivan Media +", " Nakhchivanin sesi", Muasir Nakhchivan" and "Nyu Naxçıvan.az".
