Azerbaijani Court of Appeal changes a verdict on doctors accused of human trafficking

The Azerbaijani Court considered an appeal of doctors accused of child kidnapping.

The Baku Court of Appeal's sentence on doctor of the Sabunchu region clinic N3 Lala Hagverdiyeva, nurses of these clinic Sakina Nadirova and IDP of Jabrayil region Vafa Ismayilova, was changed, the Supreme Court told Trend .

The Supreme Court sentenced the convicted to one-year in imprisonment.

Gultakin Hasanova, a resident of Baku, gave a birth a month earlier than the forecasted term. However, doctors informed her about death of the newborn further to sell the child.

Hasanova appealed to the law-enforcement agencies. On the basis of Hasanova's complaint, the doctors were arrested.

The investigation into the case revealed that Ismayilova planned to sell the child to foreigners for $10,000.

The Court of Serious Crimes sentenced the convicted to three years in prison. After the consideration of appeal the Baku Court of Appeal shortened the punishment terms of Hagverdiyeva and Nadirova to two years.
