Trend conducted poll on combat against drugs and search of effective actions of counterpropaganda among members of opposition youth organizations.
Chairman of Musavat party's youth organization, Tural Abbasli:
One of major reasons for Azerbaijani youth to use drugs is problem with pressure of work. Young people use drugs and acquire other bad habits as there are no special places to spend spare time. Special work must be held with young people in regions on this regards.
Conditions for useful spare time of young people, increase of their interest in science, sport and participation in public-political life of the country must be ensured. Other reason includes lack of moral-public world outlook among young people. Young man must know that nation and people need him.
Joint actions of the interior ministry and the ministry of youth and sport must be conducted, mainly, in south region, to prevent use of drugs among young people.
Youth organizations of Azerbaijan political parties must pay attention to actions of counterpropaganda concerning prevention of use of drugs among young people. We are ready to assist state organizations to be dealt with it. Implementation of actions on counterpropaganda requires funds. So, youth organizations can realize actions even of symbolic character. NGOs getting grants from state can make more significant actions in this sphere.

More attractive forms of counterpropaganda should be used to prevent use of drugs among Azerbaijani youth. Youth is interested in films propagandizing drugs. Effective materials interesting for youth must be found. Films should be shot. Campaigns must be held.
Concerts of famous rep and rock groups, under slogan No drugs! must be also organized in Azerbaijan. It happens worldwide.

Young people entertain most part of spare time but not study. It is one of reasons of use of drugs among youth. Young people gradually smoke, drink alcohol and use drugs.
Useful spare time for youth must be one of important actions of counter propaganda in combat against drugs. It is necessary to increase interest in study. Young people must realize that their future depends on quality of their education.
Roughly 23,254 people addicted to drugs are officially registered in Azerbaijan. Roughly 1,243 people were convicted for criminal actions due to drugs within six months. Three of them are people under 18, 98 - people 18-25 years, 206 - 26-29 years, 936 0 older than 30 years.
