Azerbaijan, Baku, September 8 / Trend , E.Ostapenko / Miklos Haraszti, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, held in Baku the presentation of his book "Self-regulation of media" in Azeri.

The author said that the book "Self-regulation of media" is bestseller. This is the tenth national publication. The book was published in Turkish, Albanian, Tajik, Hungarian and other languages. Experts from Britain, Turkey and Bulgaria assisted in compiling the book.

According to Haraszti, this book is necessary for journalists in order to know how to protect the quality of the media in the era of the Internet. It is also of interest for the state, he said.

"Only absolutely free media can regulate itself. And this is not about censorship. Self-regulation of the media is the best mechanism for the development of the media," said Haraszti.

From 7 to 11 September, Haraszti is on a working visit to Baku, where he will discuss the situation with freedom of speech. He intends to meet with representatives of the authorities, non-governmental organizations, ambassadors of the OSCE.
