Azerbaijani citizens fighting in Taliban army imprisoned for 1 year

Azerbaijani citizen trained in illegal armed units outside the country was imprisoned for 1 year. A verdict towards Vugar Huseynov and Rauf Abdullayev fighting in 'Taliban' army was read out in the Grave Crimes Court on Monday.

Azerbaijani citizen trained in illegal armed units outside the country was imprisoned for 1 year.

A verdict towards Vugar Huseynov and Rauf Abdullayev fighting in 'Taliban' army was read out in the Grave Crimes Court on Monday.

Each of them was imprisoned for six months.

Срок наказания обвиняемых, которые находятся под арестом уже четыре месяца, завершится через два месяца.

They are under arrest for four months and will be released in two months.

Accused Huseynov and Abdullayev have been trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan since 2008.

They also fought with military coalition in these countries including Azerbaijani contingent.

Both returned to Azerbaijan in a few months.

They were detained by employees of the ministry of national security in early January.

Huseynov and Abdullayev are accused of the following articles of the Criminal Code: 279.1 (creation of armed units or groups not envisaged by the Azerbaijani legislation, as well as participation in their creation and activity, providing them with arms, ammunition, explosives, military technique or munitions), 318 (illegal crossing Azerbaijani state border).

The trial over Azerbaijani other 13 citizens accused of participation in Pakistani and Afghani fighting continues.
