Trial over criminals accused of arms smuggling to Azerbaijan launched

The trial over people accused of large batch of arms smuggling to Azerbaijan was launched. A preparatory meeting on the criminal case towards Intigam Valiyev, Sayavush Eyvazov, Gurbat Nadjafov accused of arms trafficking was held in the Court for Grave Crimes. The trial is scheduled for Nov. 4.

The trial over people accused of large batch of arms smuggling to Azerbaijan was launched.

A preparatory meeting on the criminal case towards Intigam Valiyev, Sayavush Eyvazov, Gurbat Nadjafov accused of arms trafficking was held in the Court for Grave Crimes. The trial is scheduled for Nov. 4.

Police officers detained an automobile KamAZ with state number 35 BE 715, owned by Intigam Valiyev at patrol position No 723 of the Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on October 13 at 13:00. The car was located at 343 kilometer of highway Gazakh-Baku. Intigam Valiyev behaved suspiciously.

During a search, about 157 smoothbore hunting and air weapons made in Russia, Turkey and the U.S.A, 26 bullets of various caliber, ten boxes of shells, three boxes of spare parts for the hunting rifle and 300 handcuffs were found in his car.

It was found that an employee of the Baku office of the company "Oz Nuhoglu", operating in Istanbul, and dealing with passengers and freight transportation between Istanbul and Baku, Sayavush Eyvazov, head of the firm "Franki", selling hunting rifles, accessories and ammunition in Sumgait, Gurbet Najafov, a resident of Agstafa region, who previously worked in the organization "Broker" in the border checkpoint "Red Bridge", Ilham Rahimov, together with Turkish citizen Haji Sharaf, came to an agreement to smuggle shotgun hunting and air rifles, ammunition, spare parts for hunting guns and handcuffs to Azerbaijan.

Thus, Sharaf gave Eyvazov arms illegally transported through the Turkish-Georgian border bought from an unknown person in Turkey to give Najafov for sale.

Putting all the ammunition in Gazelle automobile, owned by Georgian citizens, whose names are not known, Eyvazov brought them to the Georgian-Azerbaijani border. He applied to his friend Rahimov to smuggle them to Azerbaijan.

Ragimov, smuggled the ammunition through the customs post Sinig Corpu located in the village of Shikhli in the Gazakh region. On October 13, 2008 he put them in the automobile" KAMAZ ", owned by Intigam Valiyev. While transporting to Sumgait, he was detained by police.

It was found that gang members have already smuggled hunting rifles, spare parts and ammunition to Azerbaijan before. These people have been arrested. A criminal case was filed.

These criminals were arrested under articles 206.1 (smuggling) and 228.1, 228.2.2, 228.2.1 (repeated illegal purchase, transfer, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of firearms, accessories, ammunition (except for smooth-bore hunting weapons and ammunition), explosives or explosive devices by a group of people) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
