The renowned Basel Sinfonietta Swiss Symphonic Orchestra will give a concert for the first time at the Baku State Conservatory in Azerbaijan Nov. 6, Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alain Guidetti said at a news conference today.
"The concert is organized within the CulutreEscapes Azerbaijan festival," Guidetti said.
The project is possible thanks to the support of the Laufenburg AG energy company, Helo airline company, Garadag Sement construction company, Pro Helvetia company and Zurich Municipality, the ambassador said.
The annual festival began in 2003 and acquaints guests with the cultures of different countries.
Director Yuriaan Kooiman initiated the festival in Azerbaijan with the support of the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry.
During the festival, the organizers also plan to present Azerbaijanii culture and art in Switzerland. The festival opened in Bern Oct. 19 and the Gara Garayev State Chamber Orchestra performed at the event. The festival will run until Dec. 6 in several Swiss cities.
