Member of armed gang accused of trying to seize power was freed in Azerbaijan

On Nov. 13, the Appellate Court of Baku considered the appeal of Ali Abdurahmanov, accused of involvement in a gang of former Prime Minister Suret Huseynov.

A member of the armed gang accused of trying to seize power was freed in Azerbaijan. On Nov. 13, the Appellate Court of Baku considered the appeal of Ali Abdurahmanov, accused of involvement in a gang of former Prime Minister Suret Huseynov.

The court cancelled penalty of four years imprisonment against Abdurahmanov. The court decided that a long time has passed since the crime, which involved Abdurahmanov, and due to it, the criminal case against him was closed.

He was charged under article 279.1 of the Criminal Code (establishing illegal armed groups, as well as participating in their establishment and operation, supplying them with arms, ammunition, explosives, military equipment).

Abdurahmanov joined armed gang of former Prime Minister Suret Huseynov in Uchtapa area near the city of Ganja. He participated in attempts prepared by Huseynov and others to seize power on Oct. 4, 1994.
