A trial of a Georgian citizen accused of committing a series of contract murders 16 years ago was held.

Addressed at a meeting of the Court for Serious Crimes on Georgian citizen Nabi Valiyev's criminal case, accused of contract murders, the prosecutor wanted 15 years in imprisonment Valiyev.

The trial will continue on Dec.18 with a defence protective speech of a lawyer of the accused.

The accused is charged in accordance with Article 70 (creation of armed unions or groups prohibited by legislation), 94.1.8 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code which was in force until 2000 and Articles 120.1 (premeditated murder), 217 (gangsterism), 228 (illegal storage of firearms) the updated Criminal Code.

Valiyev detained on Feb.20 in Uzbekistan was brought to Baku. He is a member of Georgian citizen Mugdat Omarov's criminal group, imprisoned for 15 years for committing specially serious crimes.

Investigation revealed that Mugdat Omarov created the group consisting of members of his family - father Imran, brothers Nagmat and Humbat, friends Fizuli Mammadov, Shahbaz Eminov, Nabi Valiyev, Baylar Allahverdiyev, Faraj Farajov and Ramiz Alekperov. Omarov armed the members of the group with cold steel and firearms. The group committed a number of attacks and kidnapping.

The leader of the band Omarov, the band members - Nagmat and Humbat Omarov, Fizuli Mammadov, Shahbaz Eminov, Nabi Valiyev, Baylar Allahverdiyev, Faraj Farajov and Ramiz Alekperov were convicted in 2005 by the Court of Serious Crimes and imprisoned for various periods.
