The Azerbaijani court has launched trial on Azerbaijani citizens participating in trainings of illegal military units abroad. 

Today, Anar Bilalov and Aziz Gurbanov gave testimony at the Azerbaijani Heinous Crimes Court. They partially plead themselves guilty saying that they have been in Afghanistan, but did not participated in the military trainings, the court told Trend .  

The trial process will continue Dec.25.

The accused, regularly visited Afghanistan and Pakistan to participate in trainings held in military camps of those countries beginning from 2008. They fought against the forces of the military coalition in Afghanistan and Pakistan, including Azerbaijani contingent. Accused people returned to Azerbaijan after participation in fights on the side of Afghanistan and Pakistan. In January 2009, the National Security Ministry's officers arrested them.

The detained people are accused on Articles 279.1 (establishment of armed units or groups unspecified by the Azerbaijani legislation, as well as participation in their establishment and activity, provision with arms, ammunition, explosives, military equipment or military equipment) and 318 (illegal crossing of state borders of the Azerbaijani Republic) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

The court has sentenced more 15 people accused of fighting in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
