Azerbaijani Council of State Support to NGOs receives over 20 projects

The Council of State Support to NGOs of Azerbaijan received more than 20 projects.
"So far, more than 20 projects have been submitted to Azerbaijani Council of State Support to NGOs under Azerbaijani President for competition related with financing of projects in 2010," Council Secretariat executive director Farasat Gurbanov told Trend on Jan. 5.
The Council of State Support to NGOs of Azerbaijan under Azerbaijani President announced a competition related with financing projects of NGOs in 2010 early December 2009.
The projects will be submitted on 22 subjects within seven main directions. About AZN 903,000 has been allocated for all the directions.
The projects are submitted from Dec. 8, 2009 to Apr.15 2010. The results of the competition will be announced after March 10.
The next competition will be announced in April 2010. The Council plans to hold four competitions in 2010. About AZN 2,063,000 will be allocated for holding competitions financed by the Council.
Gurbanov said that after the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year holiday submission of the projects has accelerated. "Today we have received several projects. We believe the number of NGOs will increase in the next days," he said.
Some 569 projects were submitted to the Council in 2009. NGOs which submitted projects required about AZN 9 million, but the fund of the competition was several times lesser - AZN 2,068 milllion. The Council supported 226 of the submitted projects and allocated AZN 1,848,000 for them.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on establishment of Council of State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President on Dec.13 2007.
