Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova offered Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov to hold a joint event within "Year of Ecology in Azerbaijan", the Ombudsman's Office told Trend .
Azerbaijani Ombudsman offered to hold discussions on improvement of ecological legislation, operations on legal enlightenment in schools, places of settlement of refugees, NGOs, as well as publication and distribution of pamphlets, posters and other campaign materials. Ombudsman has launched an initiative to hold a joint international conference on "Ecological environment and human rights" with support of UNESCO in the National Day of Human Rights on June 18.
According to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree, 2010 is announced as a Year of Ecology in Azerbaijan.
