There is no need to create excitement in connection with events in the village Benenyar of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), said the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan.
"State, society must express its attitude towards the forces acting with radical, extremist positions, wherever they are in Benenyar village or other regions of the country," the State Committee chairman Hidayat Orujov briefed the media.
On Dec. 27, 2009, on the day of Ashura, a clash occurred between local residents and police in the village Benenyar. The incident caused concerns for the embassies, international organizations and NGOs operating in the country.
