Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 22 / Trend E.Tariverdiyeva /
Azerbaijan and Russia should enhance relations between their civil societies, Russian Culture Minister Alexander Avdeev said at the First Russian-Azerbaijani forum on humanitarian cooperation today.
According to him, the civil society is a strong component.
"It is very important to share experience, as we have many common problems...earlier we were the best in this regard," he said." Now we turn to new standards, but national circumstances must be taken into account."
The minister also noted that it is interesting for Russia how Azerbaijan finances the development of its culture and restores its monuments, etc.
"We must not forget that the cultural level influences the moral qualities of a man. Russia and Azerbaijan must cooperate in the culture sphere. The history of relations between our countries is a good example and we can provide the world the recipes for humanitarian cooperation," he added.
Avdeev also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership for organizing such a forum.
Today, Baku hosts the first Russian-Azerbaijani Forum on humanitarian cooperation, organized by the two countries. The forum will discuss issues of bilateral relations, interaction of political institutions, civil society, professional associations and creative unions. Particular attention will be paid to the role of the media in building bridges between Russia and Azerbaijan, the preservation of the Russian language and the expansion of the Russian-speaking information space.
