Azerbaijan, Baku, March 2/ Trend , M. Aliyev /
National Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan to discuss television and radio situation, Nushirevan Maharramli, chairman of the National Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan (NBCA), told journalists.
"The goal of the event on March 18 is to bring this issue once again under public control. Along with television channels and radio, the event will be attended by representatives of NGOs and agencies working in this field," Maharramli said.
Azerbaijani Presidential Administration head Ramiz Mehdiyev highlighted drawbacks in the activity of TV and radio channels in an article published in the Azerbaijan newspaper.
Mehdiyev said that the increasing number of low-quality entertaining TV programs is one of the main problems disturbing the public. He said that the discussion of the problem by experts demonstrated that the business interests of TV and radio channels, doing programs alien to our mentality, lack of professional staff and other problems, are one of the major shortages.
In 2010, some progress has been achieved in television and radio compared to 2009.
"It is difficult to achieve a serious change for a short period in television," Maharramli said.
