Azerbaijan didn't satisfy appeal of former head of the municipality, accused of committing corruption crimes.

Shirvan Court of Appeal didn't satisfy former head of municipality in Archivan village of Astara region Mirzaga Nuriyev's appeal. The court didn't change the Serious Crimes Court's verdict.

The Heinous Crimes Court has sentenced former head of municipality in Archivan village of Astara region Mirzaga Nuriyev to eight-year-imprisonment.

Nuriyev was arrested by employees of the Department on Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office in September 2009.

He is charged with Article 179.3.2 (assignment or waste insignificant size), 308.1. (abusing of official powers), 309.1 (excess of official powers) and 313 (service forgery) of the Criminal Code.
