Chief editor accused of hooliganism wants acquittal

Chief Editor of the Ideal newspaper, accused of hooliganism and blackmail filed an appeal.

Nazim Guliyevm who has been sentenced to 13 years and 3 months imprisonment by the Serious Crimes Court filed an appeal, the Serious Crimes Court told Trend. According to the Court, Guliyev demands acquittal considering the Court's verdict unfair. The criminal case has been sent to Baku Court of Appeal.

The judicial review is scheduled for April 21.

According to the Serious Crimes Court's verdict Guliyev's property was seized.

Guliyev was convicted in accordance with the Article 182.2 (blackmail), 182.2.3 (blackmail with violence), 221.1 (hooliganism), 234.1 (illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transport, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or precursors) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. In this case, six people are recognized as the victims.

Six people were injured as a result of his crimes.
