Baku creates Board of Trustees of CIS Interreligious Council (PHOTO)

During the meeting of the Interreligious Council of the CIS, held in Baku today, it was decided to establish a Board of Trustees, which will raise funds for organization of conferences, creating and maintaining website of the Council.

During the meeting of the Interreligious Council of the CIS, held in Baku today, it was decided to establish a Board of Trustees, which will raise funds for organization of conferences, creating and maintaining website of the Council. This offer was put forward by the new co-chair of the Council, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and supported by members of the presidium of the Council.

The Patriarch offered to regularly hold meetings of the Executive Committee in various capitals of the CIS, which will undertake the preparation of the presidium's meeting.

The Executive Committee of the Interreligious Council of the CIS will study everything that happens in the CIS, and assess from a religious point of view.

During the meeting the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for Church and Public Relations Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin was elected the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Council, and the priest Georgy Roshchin - secretary coordinator of the Executive Committee.

At the opening of the meeting the patriarch Kirill said that at present, great changes, crises are underway, so the meeting of the Council has both practical and symbolic character.

"People will see that the leaders of religions can agree and this example will have a significant impact" - the patriarch said. - We must achieve a world without double standards. Interreligious Council of the CIS doesn't require compromises from anyone; everyone remains faithful to his interests.

The Patriarch expressed his confidence that the efforts of the forthcoming summit will strengthen the interreligious relations in the CIS.

The summit of religious leaders of the CIS countries started in Baku April 25.
