Azerbaijan provides largest amount financial assistance to Great Patriotic War veterans (PHOTO)

A meeting with a group of war veterans was conducted at the Sumgait branch of the State Social Protection Fund of Azerbaijan in connection with the 65th anniversary of victory over fascism, head of SSPF public relations sector Elman Babayev told Trend.
"Azerbaijan provides the largest amount financial assistance to the veterans of Great Patriotic War. For example, if to take the Azerbaijani manat, in Kazakhstan this figure amounted to about 357 manat, Ukraine - 100 manat, Belarus - 135 manat, and in Russia - 138 manat," said the Chairman of State Social Protection Fund Salim Muslimov.
The historic feat of the Azerbaijan sons, who passed a worthy way to battle during World War II, was highly appreciated by the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, said Muslimov. In all periods of his governance, he paid great care and attention to the problems of war veterans.
"This policy of National Leader is continued by President Ilham Aliyev. An example of this the decrees issued by him on approval of the National Program for preparation and holding 65th anniversary of Victory in the 1941-1945 War and on provision of one-time material assistance to participants of the 1941-1945 War, awarding widows of killed soldiers, persons," said Muslimov.
Already last week was summed up the issuance of one-time material assistance in amount of 500 manat to war participants, widows of killed men, 200 manat to persons awarded with orders and medals for their selfless work during 1941-1945, said the head of State Social Protection Fund.
In addition, based on proposals prepared in accordance with the National Program for preparation and holding 65th anniversary of Victory in the 1941-1945 War, from 1 January 2010, the basic part of labor pension of war participants was increased by 30 manat.
