Azerbaijan has not satisfied appeal of former policemen accused of accused of armed attack on currency exchange offices.

Appeal Court make a verdict on Mehdi Amiraliyev, who worked at Yasamal District Police Station, Anti Banditry and Terrorism Department, was Chief of 18 Police Department of Narimanov District Police Station and Deputy Chief of Criminal Search Department of Yasamal District Police Station and Iraj Nasrullayev, who worked in Shusha City Department of Interior Ministry, was operation officer at Head Department Combating Organized Criminality and was dismissed from the police organs in 1994 and policemen Jeyhun Karayev, Rauf Rzayev, Seyran Bagirov and Ismayil Feyziev's appeal

According to the decision of the Court of Appeal, the appeal of the accused was not satisfied  and the verdict of the Serious Crimes Court remained in force.

The accused former police officers have committed the crimes in the period from1998 to 2008. They have committed over 20 similar crimes in various districts of Baku.

The Baku Heinous Crimes Court sentenced Mehdi Amiraliyev and Iraj Nasrullayev to 15 years in prison, Ismail Feyziyev and Jeyhun Garayev to 12 years, Rauf Rzayev to four years and Seyran Bagirov to 10 years.

The National Security Ministry arrested the individuals Sept. 30.

The accused were charged under Article 29 (Attempted Crime), Article 120.2.1 (Murder and Conspiracy), Article 180 (Robbery), Article 217 (Banditry) and Article 228 (Illegally Carrying Firearms) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
