While constructing settlements in future, environmental factors should be taken into account, Azerbaijani Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bahirov said.
"While constructing the facilities, it is necessary to consult with ecologists to prevent the actions that negatively affect the ecology," Bahirov said.
Taking into account environmental factors, the areas adjacent to rivers Kura and Araz will be devastated.
"As to for raising the water level in the Kura River, the work is conducted in the zone of the disaster to resolve the crisis. Melting of snow greatly impact [on the water level in the river]. But it can not be called serious," the minister said.
He said that there are visible results of the commission, created by the presidential decree. "The establishment of a system of a full and effective water management in Azerbaijan was proposed. It was also proposed to increase the opportunities for irrigation in coastal areas of the river Araz and ensure water runoff into the sea, effective manage water reserves, construct reservoirs on small rivers," Bahirov said.
