Minister: Azerbaijani medical staff and pharmacists to be certified

Obligatory certification of medical staff will be introduced in the nearest future in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Minister of Health Oktay Shiraliyev said. Obligatory certification of health staff will be implemented in the country in accordance with the decree of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers June 12, 2010.

Obligatory certification of medical staff will be introduced in the nearest future in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Minister of Health Oktay Shiraliyev said. Obligatory certification of health staff will be implemented in the country in accordance with the decree of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers June 12, 2010.

"Introduction of obligatory certification of medical staff, including pharmacists, in Azerbaijan is an important step to improve the health situation," the Minister said.

He said that this practice is used in many countries around the world, as health care is an area which is constantly developing. Each physician and pharmacist should be aware of recent advances in this field, including technological and other.

From now on, every medical employee, and pharmacist, will take the centralized as a test to pass certification every five years, he said.

Regarding other measures implemented by the government to improve medical education, the minister said that the next highest degree for students of Medical University - residency will be introduced next year. According to it, each graduate on request, will take the centralized examinations and pass two -three-year practice in the clinic with the best skilled professionals to get better specialization.
