Over the past period, the Azerbaijani diaspora has developed, passed a process of organizational formation and at the academic level, is involved in presenting to the world community the truth about Azerbaijan, Chairman State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibragimov said on July 5.
"Today can be considered the peak of National leader Heydar Aliyev's care about the diaspora: Eight years ago, seeing the importance and significance of the work, carried out by the diaspora, perhaps for the first time, he created the highest state institution. Since the first days, the diaspora organizations have been instructed to present to the whole world the truth about Azerbaijan. Today, the Azerbaijani diaspora is known all over the world," said Ibragimov.
Today is the 8th anniversary of the formation of the state organization, carrying out the policy of the Azerbaijani state in matters of diaspora. This structure was established based on Heydar Aliyev's historical decree dated July 5, 2002 on Creation of State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis living Abroad to develop and expand relations with Azerbaijanis living abroad.
November 19, 2008, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on establishing State Committee for Work with the Diaspora on the basis of the State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis living abroad.
The Committee Chairman said that the tasks assigned by the President of Azerbaijan to the diaspora are fully realized.
"The diaspora plays a big role in presenting to the world the truth on the occupation of our territories and the rightness of Azerbaijan on issues related to Nagorno-Karabakh. Diaspora organizations play an important role in this regard, we have already created several organizations in Germany, the USA, Russia and established large organizations that have their place in the public-political life of these countries," said Ibrahimov.
