The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry will establish a new department which will work to rid the coastal waters of the Caspian Sea and establish drainage systems, Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists today.
"Earlier, the municipalities worked to rid the coastal waters, but the ministry revealed that the local governments have not commissioned any water treatment device or a drainage system over time have, although have signed 80 agreements for this purpose," he said.
Bagirov said the ministry will carry out these works itself and expects a decision on the matter.
Bagirov also noted that the ministry will assist municipalities to continue work on the concluded 80 agreements.
