The activities of the media focus not only on the dissemination of information, but also on the productive activity of society, said the deputy chairman of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP).
"Most part of the press in Azerbaijan was formed on the correct values and continues to operate on the basis of these values. Azerbaijani has taken important steps in the development of the press, the government always pays attention to the media. It is impossible to imagine modern society without information, and today, information is even more important than before. The media is the fourth power, since it is capable to exert influence on society. But any power should properly implement its responsibilities," NAP deputy chairman, executive secretary of the party, Ali Ahmedov, said in a ceremony of awarding journalists, dedicated to 135th anniversary of the national press.
July 22, 1875 the well-known educator and columnist Hasan bey Zardabi began publishing a newspaper "Akinchi" layng the foundations of the Azerbaijani national press, which has always been a herald of truth, reflecting the concerns of society's problems, progressive ideas and progressive thinking of the time and played an important role in enlightening the people of Azerbaijan and promoting national and humanistic values.
According to Ahmedov, the important thing in receiving and disseminating information is the atmosphere of democracy. From this point of view, there is no problem in Azerbaijan.
"135-year-old press of Azerbaijan has a historical tradition. We, as NAP, are also making efforts to ensure that the press covers our activities. NAP can consider the press its friend. We always try to make these relations based on a healthy relationship," said official representative of the NAP.
Then the media representatives were presented with awards.
