The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is organizing a summer school for the first time this year from Aug. 29 to Sept. 6. The program focuses on the energy sector, and aims to promote Azerbaijan's industry experience on both the domestic and international arenas.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is organizing a summer school for the first time this year from Aug. 29 to Sept. 6. The program focuses on the energy sector, and aims to promote Azerbaijan's industry experience on both the domestic and international arenas.

The training program covers a broad spectrum of energy sector activities, including the geology and geophysics of oil and gas deposits, drilling, mining, transportation and storage, oil and gas processing, petrochemistry, environmental standards and alternative energy sources, oil and gas extraction and refining industry economics, and the sale of oil and oil products.

Lessons include interactive lectures, workshops, excursions.

Participants will be selected on a competitive basis. The application deadline is July 31.

Eligible applicants are Azerbaijani and foreign students (freshmen through senior year undergraduate students and first-year graduate students) majoring in automation and ICT pipelines, ecology, energy, geological surveys, law, oil and gas production, drilling, economics, chemistry, technology, oil mechanics, or construction.

Students are selected in a two-round procedure - an exam (first round) and an interview (second round).

Thirty students will be chosen to participate. SOCAR will cover all associated costs.
