The Council for the construction, reconstruction and repair of worship places under the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan held its first meeting on July 23.
It was noted at the meeting that the charter and working plan of the Council have been prepared, as well as its composition was determined, the press service of the State Committee said.
The Council comprises of the department head of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Zulfugar Mammadov, director of the Research Institute of Design "Azerbarpa" of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Telman Kerimli and senior fellow at the Institute of Art and Architecture of the National Academy of Sciences Farhad Mollazade.
Chairman of the State Committee Hidayat Orujov said he was confident that the Council will successfully carry out its responsibilities. According to him, presence of such kind of structure will stimulate the growth of professionalism in the construction and renovation of worship places and the appearance of majestic religious structures.
The meeting reviewed the proposals for the construction and renovation of worship places received by the State Committee. There were studied the documents submitted to the Council. On the basis of documents received, a decision was made on the positive assessment of the reconstruction project of Muhammad Mosque, located in Icheri Sheher ("Old City").
